My friends Bill and Judy loaned me their golf cart about a week ago. They are going to be here on-and-off for the next few weeks so they asked if I would please use the golf cart and keep it charged up. I said that I would be glad to help out (my insides were jumping up and down yelling whoopeeeee).
And I am having such fun. I just got back from running up to a friend’s house to help him find some things on the internet. Earlier today, I ran up to the point and watered the flowers that I had planted. And this afternoon, I ran over to another friend’s house to help her load some items into her truck.
Of course, I can read the writing on the wall. I know you can too. I will be buying a golf cart when Bill and Judy come back to the Park. Whoopeeee!!!!

I have lived in several states…..Louisiana, California, Florida twice, and Texas twice. I have enjoyed all of them, but there really seems to be something different about Texas. Everyone living in Texas seems very happy and very proud to call themselves Texans. I see so many things with either the shape of Texas or the replica of the Texas flag on them.
Walking around my RV Park, I see “Texas” birdhouses, welcome mats, windmills, mugs, hats, gloves, chairs, tables, flags, and decals on trailers. And I notice that I am starting to acquire a few things also.
Today, I bought a stepping stone in the shape of Texas. It is a pretty good size…..about two feet by two feet…..and it is a couple of inches thick. So, you really can step on it. But you know, that just somehow seems wrong!
I have a few other Texas items already. I have a welcome sign that looks like the Texas flag. And I have two bolo ties. One has the Star of Texas and the other has a longhorn on it. (Hi Mom…..I know you “loaned” me the longhorn bolo, but can I pleasssssssssse keep it?) I also have a quilt hanging with boots on it. My home is slowly becoming “Texaned”, and I like it!
I’m trying to keep my acquisitions to a minimum…..after all, I do live in a travel trailer. But I’m pretty sure that there is room for a few more bolo ties and perhaps room for a real Texas flag!
Take care now, Suzanne

I will go ahead and confess right now. All you kayakers out there are already nodding your head and waiting for the next sentence……because you all already know what it is since ALL kayakers do this.
I flipped over in my kayak.
I can tell you that the water in my lake is not too cold. And I can say that a few safety precautions kept the event from being a disaster. I did have on my safety strap for my eyeglasses…..so no lost prescription glasses. I did have on my life vest……so no need to worry about not coming up for air. And I did have my cell phone in a ziplock bag……and I was sure lucky there! I should have had it in two or three bags because one or two drops of water did get in. The phone did not work that night, but it did in the morning!!!
I flipped over at the boat dock while trying to get out of the kayak. No one was around so my great performance had no audience. I swam a few feet until I felt the bottom of the lake, and then I stood up and turned my kayak right side up. Climbed ashore, dragged the kayak up, and then turned it over again to get the water out. Then I tidied up everything and headed home for a warm shower.
The next day, I went kayaking again. But first, I figured out a different way to get out of the kayak. And…..this time, I stayed dry!
Still enjoying this life on the lake, Suzanne

I am back home in East Texas, and it is wonderful to be here. I’ll be leaving again in about a month to get some maintenance on my travel trailer……little things like new shocks. Now, that does seem amusing to me. I’ve never lived in a home that requires shocks.
But, I wanted to tell you about some birds and some bees here at the RV Park. This last Monday was the monthly Work Day. We all gather at the club house and start work on anything that needs doing around the Park. We usually start by cleaning the club house, and then we move on to other things. I decided to work on the outdoor chapel area that we have. It was overgrown a bit and needed some weed-whacking and some weed-pulling. I noticed that there were quite a few bees around, but they were leaving me alone so I just kept working. I was weed-whacking around a little miniature church when I discovered where those bees were coming from! They had discovered that little church and had moved in. There were a lot, and they were very busy. It reminded me of those nature shows where the bees come in with the pollen and then go out to get some more. And there are the bees that just hang around. And then there are the bees that do housekeeping.
That is just what I saw at this “bee house.” I saw flying bees coming and going with pollen, I saw bees that stayed on the house, and I saw bees that were pulling little bits of weeds out of the house. And these bees didn’t seem to mind that I was near by……like only two feet away!
I figured that this had to be the highlight of the day, but I was wrong. I turned around and noticed a purple martin bird house. There were a couple of birds on it, and I assumed that they were purple martins. And then I noticed that they had a blue color. Well, those birds were blue birds!
Now that was the highlight of the day. It’s great to be back home.
Ya’ll take care, Suzanne

At every Rally that I have attended, there is always a flea market held by the attendees. It is a great chance to move treasures from one RV to another. Well, at the Glen Rose Rally, I found a treasure, and it was made by Al, one of my neighbors in the RV Park where I live! The treasure I found is a “Laughing Chicken”. It is made from a small plastic cup, a string, and a sponge. The string is attached to the top of the cup (just poke a little hole in the top and thread the string through; then tie knot). To make the chicken laugh, first dampen the sponge. Then, using the sponge, grab the string near the cup and pull down in a jerky motion. The plastic cup laughs! This really works! So, I bought one and brought it home. The first person I showed was the bank teller in my hometown. She had never seen anything like it. And the toy worked……the chicken laughed, and then everyone hearing him laughed! And it is infectious. Make the chicken laugh and laugh…..and people can’t stop laughing along with it. Or at least smiling! See ya’ll later, Suzanne | | Posted by Suzanne at 9:42 AM - | |
