RELIVING CHILDHOOD AT WILD WATERS
You know, the title RELIVING CHILDHOOD is just not true. When I was a kid, the most excitement with water was the high diving board at the 2nd Ave Swimming Pool. I remember vaguely going down a slide into a motel pool once, but it wasn’t like the slides I experienced today.
Oh, these water slides were something else. In the first place, I got lots of exercise just walking up and up and up to get to the top of the slide! Then, the lifeguard stationed there had me (and everybody) wait until it was safe to start down. When I entered the pool at the bottom, there was a lifeguard making sure I was OK. I thought that was all pretty neat. And, I’ve never been asked so many times….“Are you all right, ma’am?” (I’m still not sure when I became a “ma’am”. I think it was about the time I moved to East Texas.)
My favorite slide was the inner tube slide. It was rated a “3” (with “4” being the most difficult), but I think it was only rated “3” because it went through a tunnel. This slide was fun because I knew I was going to be cushioned all the way down and because the ride was long. The tunnel was great too.
My friends and I finished our childhood day with s’mores around the fire.
And then we plodded into the trailer and fell sound asleep.
Ya’ll take care, Suzanne
